How To Prepare Specimens for Exhibition:
- Chose medium sized carrots, potatoes and beets.
- Choose regular shaped specimens.
- Choose specimens as nearly the same shape and size as possible.
- Cut tops off leaving only 1 inch.
- Polish with dry cloth. Wipe mud and dirt off.
- Choose large onions. Bend the tops over some time before pulling so that the tops stop growing. After pulling, allow the onions to dry in the sun. Do not peel.
- Choose large squash.
- Potatoes must not be washed.
- Pumpkins and Squash must have stems on.
