President’s Message
Greetings All:
It is with great pride that I welcome you to the 161st edition of the Drumbo Fall Fair. As in years past, our fair will offer a variety of activities to showcase our agricultural roots and to provide family entertainment that is sure to please one and all.
The theme of this year's fair is "Barns - It's a Country Thing!" The stereotypical red barn evokes so many warm and happy memories for me...the hours I spent playing in the mow with my siblings and cousins, the thrill of finding a nest of kittens hidden in the straw, the fun we had tobogganing on the gangway, the excitement of seeing a wobbly new-born calf struggle to her feet, the overwhelming feeling of contentment as I silently sat listening to the cows chewing their cud...these are just some of my special memories of the focal point of every farm, the barn. A barn is not merely wood and cement blocks but instead, it is the hub of the farm, a safe home for the herd, a farmer's source of pride. I am confident that this year's Drumbo Fair will fittingly celebrate the barn - it deserves celebration!
Every year, I look forward to the Drumbo Fair with great anticipation. It gives the community an opportunity to feature its talents. It is an occasion to renew acquaintances and greet neighbours. Most importantly, it is a time to celebrate and savour our unique rural community spirit.
I hope to see you all at this year's fair; it will be the culmination of countless hours of hard work by our Directors and volunteers, and as such, it is certain to be a success. So come visit, have fun and enjoy our fair...it, and barns, are a "country thing!"
