Greetings from Susannah Sparling
2013 Ambassador
I am delighted to welcome each and everyone of you to the 2014 Drumbo Fall Fair as we celebrate 164 years of community. Deciding to enter the ambassador program was a small step out of my comfort zone that I am glad I made. It has opened doors that have taken me into many amazing opportunities. This has been a year where I have been able to embrace moments for personal growth, make new friends, get involved and have the privilege of representing the Drumbo Agricultural Society. This exciting journey started in August at the Lions Harvest Carnival, when I was crowned. In September, I walked through the fair gates wearing my sash and tiara. This was a great weekend where I experienced the fair from a different perspective. Many people approached me with their favourite childhood fair memories. I was able to hand out ribbons at the draft horse, beef cattle, and pet shows and of course, I enjoyed all the fun that our fair has to offer for the whole family. My journey moved forward to take me on Santa Claus Parades and help at fundraising events in the fall and spring. In February I was thrilled to be able to attend the OAAS Convention at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Here I spent time with ambassadors representing approximately 90 fairs across Ontario. We participated in seminars pertaining to being leaders in our community and spent the weekend getting to know one another. In August, I will have the privilege of representing Drumbo at the Canadian National Exhibition Ambassador of the Fair competition. I hope to see everyone at the 164th Drumbo Fall Fair where this year’s theme is ‘Cats and Dogs”. I wish all the best to the 2014 Drumbo ambassador, knowing that person will have a great year. As always, I will be hoping for good weather and encourage everyone to bring out the whole family.
