How To Prepare Specimens for Exhibition:
- Chose MEDIUM SIZED carrots, potatoes and beets.
- Choose REGULAR SHAPED specimens.
- Choose specimens as nearly the same shape and size as possible.
- Cut TOPS off leaving only 1 inch.
- Polish with dry cloth.
- Choose LARGE onions. Bend the tops over some time before pulling so that the tops stop growing. After pulling, allow the onions to dry in the sun. DO NOT PEEL.
- Choose LARGE squash.
- Potatoes must NOT be washed.
- Pumpkins and Squash MUST have stems on.
