Entry Rules & Guidelines

WHO CAN ENTER?

School & Teen Fair is open to all young people, preschool to grade 12, no matter where you live.

WHAT MAY I ENTER?

You must enter your own original work. Parents and teachers may offer advice and encouragement only. All work must be completed since the previous fair. You may make only one entry in any section of a class. Remember, no Lego, K’nex, Duplo, etc. is allowed.

WHAT GRADE DO I HAVE TO BE IN TO ENTER?

Entry levels are based on your Grade as of June 1, 2019. Some competitions have different grade limits or additional rules. Check carefully as to where you may enter. Entries placed in the wrong grade category will be disqualified.

IS THERE A CHARGE TO MAKE ENTRIES?

There is no entry fee for School & Teen Fair.

IS THERE A CLOSING DATE & TIME FOR ENTRIES?

You may bring your entries to the School Fair Tent on Thursday from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. only.

HOW DO I ENTER?

You will need Orange coloured tags and an Entry Form. Click here for Drumbo Fair Entry Form 2019. An orange coloured School Fair Tag must be filled in and attached to each of your entries. All of your entries must be listed on the Entry Form by using the Classes and Section numbers in the prize book or the School Fair Brochure.An example of a Class could be Class H (for Handicrafts), Section #17, Description: ‘Make a "fish" headband’.

WHERE DO I PICK UP AN ENTRY FORM & TAGS?

Entry Forms and Orange coloured tags will be available in early September at Blenheim District School, Morrow's of Drumbo, Innerkip, Plattsville & Princeton Post Offices, Plattsville Library and at the Fair Office on Thursday of the Fair. Entry Forms may be downloaded from the fair website. Be sure to pick up and complete your Entry Tags and Entry Form ahead of time.

WHEN WILL THE ENTRIES BE JUDGED?

Judging begins on Friday morning. You cannot watch the judging. Sometimes the judge may leave you a note regarding your entry.

WHEN DO I PICK UP MY ENTRIES?

No entries may be removed from the displays before the end of the fair. You may pick up your entries on Sunday between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. To assist you in picking up all of your exhibits, a copy of your Entry Form will be available.

IF I WIN PRIZE MONEY, WHERE DO I PICK IT UP?

You may pick up your prize envelope in the School Fair Tent when you pick up your exhibits on Sunday between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Prize money is as follows, except where otherwise indicated.

1st Prize: $2.50; 2nd Prize: $2.00; 3rd Prize: $1.50. Ribbons will be awarded up to sixth place.

Fair directors shall take every precaution to secure the safety of the exhibits but cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.

Special Prizes

A plaque sponsored by the Cowan Family in memory of Mary Cowan will be awarded to the exhibitor with the most points in School Fair, (K-Gr 8). The plaque will be placed on permanent display in the Agricultural Hall.

Medallions in memory of Mary Cowan will be awarded to the top exhibitor in each of the following: Pre-school, JK&K, Gr 1&2, Gr 3&4, Gr 5&6, Gr 7&8 and high school level.

The Special Prizes will be presented at the Fair Appreciation Night in October.  You will receive notification of this evening.

 

SCHOOL ART DISPLAYS


To be placed in large tent on Thursday after 3:00 p.m. or Friday.

Art Display

Each school entering a display (triangle of 3 (4x8) styrofoam boards) will be awarded a prize of $35.00. These displays are non-competitive. The name of the school must be clearly shown.
