Greetings from the 2008 Ambassador, Danielle DeGrace
What a pleasure it is, as the Drumbo Fair Ambassador, to welcome all of our friends, neighbours and distant visitors to the 159th Drumbo Fair! My year as Drumbo Fair Ambassador began on September 19th, 2008 and developed into a pleasant, memorable experience. The theme of last year's fair was based on a multitude of sheep related events and as such, was fittingly dubbed "This Fair's for Ewe". Remember Little Bo-Peep? She and I led the Pet Parade through the fair grounds. Besides sheep everywhere, there were horses too! One of my favourite activities was handing out ribbons to riders at the horse shows after a wonderful pancake breakfast. In November I attended the District 7 Meeting and Ambassador Workshop in Embro where I learned much about myself, my public speaking skills and about maximizing my personal potential. It was great to meet with and share ideas and experiences with other fair Ambassadors from our District. On a cold, and somewhat snowy day in December, I rode in a gorgeous old sleigh atop a float which was part of the Santa Claus parade. I thoroughly enjoyed waving to the spectators and wishing all a "Merry Christmas!" February found me at the OAAS Convention at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto - another wonderful learning experience! I attended workshops with Fair Ambassadors from across the province. I even danced at a live Beverly Mahood concert! It has been an honour to represent the Drumbo Agricultural Society over this past year and I offer a heartfelt "Thank you" to all who have helped me fulfill my role as your representative. Don't forget this year's fair theme: "Horsin' Around at the Fair". Take every opportunity to "kick up your heels" and enjoy!
