Teen Fair will be co-sponsored by Lorene Stott in Memory of John Stott and by Drumbo Agricultural Society.

THEME: "HORSIN' AROUND AT THE FAIR"

CHANGE OF RULE: Teen Fair is open to all youth, Grade 7 to 12. based on your Grade as of June 1, 2009. 

All exhibitors must have a membership in the Drumbo Agricultural Society and it may be purchased at the time when entries are made Thursday evening or Friday morning of the fair. Membership ($5.00) entitles you to show in any of the open classes.
Entries will be received Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9:00 to 12:00 noon. Your entry form must be in the Fair office by 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Entries may be picked up between 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

AWARDS

A medallion will be awarded to the top exhibitor in Teen Fair. In addition, a prize of $10.00 will be awarded to the champion - minimum 15 entries required. Presentation will be made at the Fair's Appreciation Night to be held Friday, October 16, 2009. You will receive notification about this.

    ARTS & CRAFTS

  1. Handmade candle
  2. Creative jewellery, any material
  3. Christmas ornament - may be made from a kit
  4. Create a bumper sticker advertising Drumbo Fair
  5. Handmade wind chimes
  6. Carving from a bar of soap
  7. Design a postcard to send to a friend based on somewhere you have visited or would like to visit
  8. Bookmark made using pressed flowers, small leaves, etc
  9. Collage of horse pictures & horse related items - in the shape of a horseshoe
  10. Handmade invitation to a Halloween party
  11. Design a CD cover, displayed in a case
  12. Pen, pencil or charcoal sketch, your choice
  13. Picture from a magazine, cut in half, draw other half
  14. Create a cartoon strip
  15. Paint by number picture
  16. Using dots, letters, etc. in a repetitive pattern, create a picture
  17. SPECIAL: Design or decorate a bag or container for your younger brother or sister to take "Trick or Treating".
  18. SPECIAL: Picture collection of "Breeds of Horses". Your choice of how to display i.e. scrapbook, mounted on Bristol board, etc. Collection must contain minimum of 5 breeds and the breeds must be named.
  19. SPECIAL:  Fire Prevention (Fire Safety) Poster - Hand drawn, minimum 21.5 cm x 28 cm to maximum 28 cm x 43 cm, mounted on Bristol Board to show a 5 cm border. Note: Entries may be used for Fire Prevention purposes and posted on the Drumbo Fire Department website. Open to Grades 9 to 12 (as of June 1, 2009). If you are Grade 7 or 8 as of June 1st, 2009 please place your entry in the School Fair Tent.

  21. "Let the Sun Shine In" - a bouquet of yellow and orange flowers
  22. Rose - a single rose bloom floating in a suitable container
  23. "A Walk in the Woods" - a collection of wild flowers, weeds, leaves, etc. Display in a container not normally used as a vase
  24. A bouquet of petunias
  25. SPECIAL - "Devil's Night" - An arrangement using black, orange and white flowers. Accessories may be used.
  26. CORN, GRAIN, FRUIT & VEGETABLES

  27. Corn - tallest stalk. No roots.

  30. Most unusually shaped vegetable
  31. Onions (3), one kind

    Baking must be on a plate and in a plastic Ziploc bag

  41. SPECIAL - Chocolate Chip Cookies - no nuts. Open to youth 12-15 years (as of Dec.31, 2009). Six (6) cookies, no larger than 6.75 cm or 3" and no smaller than 5 cm or 2" on a plate. Overall champion will be decided from the 1st place winners in the Teen and School Fairs. The overall champion is eligible to enter the District Competition held in November 2009 and if successful, compete at the Provincial Competition in Toronto, February 2010.

    Except for section 46 all pictures must have been taken by EXHIBITOR within the past year. Please mount on stiff paper.

    Who Can Enter?

    Class A)     Junior up to and including Grade 6 (Based on Grades as of June 1, 2009)
    Class B)     Youth Grade 7 to Grade 12 (Based on Grades as of June 1, 2009)


    Theme: Promoting "Drumbo Fall Fair". (Include the name and dates of the fair on your poster)

    Poster must be hand drawn

    Poster Size: Minimum 8.5" x 11" (21.5 x 28 cm) Maximum 11" x 17" (28 x 43 cm)

    Each entry must be mounted on black Bristol board with a 2" (5 cm) border.

    Name, artist's age, grade, school and Class A or B to be clearly labelled on the back of your entry.

    Winning posters will be entered in the district competition in November. The district winners will compete for monetary prizes at the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Convention in Febrary 2010.

    Judging Standards:

    1. Overall appearance - 20 points
    2. Attract and hold attention - 30 points
    3. Competition theme clear - 40 points
    4. Quality materials/end product - 10 points
